Since the Rotary movement began more than 120 years ago, we have placed care for others above self-interest. Our projects include vaccinating children against polio worldwide, ensuring access to drinking water, preventing hunger, protecting health at many levels, educating children, women’s safety and hygiene, a society free from violence and discrimination, reducing war and establishing Rotary Peace Centres. These many challenges were brought together by Rotary International in six areas that we work on every day.

In April 2025, Cape Town, South Africa, hosted the second African peace forum organised by the ICC structures. The first forum took place in Cairo in 2024. From 20 to 22 February 2025, Istanbul hosted the Rotary world peace conference. The conference was immediately preceded by the ICC Summit. The ICC meeting brought together more than 120 participants, most of them ICC National Coordinators, chairs of national committee sections and ICC enthusiasts. Participants primarily represented Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The only participants from Poland were PDG Andrzej Ludek and Olena Shpak of RC Warszawa City. A striking sign of the growing importance of ICCs within Rotary was the Summit panel attended by RI President Stephanie Urchick, The Rotary Foundation Chair Mark Maloney and RI General Secretary John Hewko, the three most senior figures in our organisation. In their presence, an agreement establishing the Turkey–Albania and Kosovo ICC was signed.
