ICC Summit – Istanbul 2025

From 20 to 22 February 2025, Istanbul hosted the Rotary world peace conference. The conference was immediately preceded by the ICC Summit. The ICC meeting brought together more than 120 participants, most of them ICC National Coordinators, chairs of national committee sections and ICC enthusiasts. Participants primarily represented Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The only participants from Poland were PDG Andrzej Ludek and Olena Shpak of RC Warszawa City. A striking sign of the growing importance of ICCs within Rotary was the Summit panel attended by RI President Stephanie Urchick, The Rotary Foundation Chair Mark Maloney and RI General Secretary John Hewko, the three most senior figures in our organisation. In their presence, an agreement establishing the Turkey–Albania and Kosovo ICC was signed.^[1]

Alongside many interesting presentations of ICC projects, ICC Executive Council President-elect Annemarie Mostert invited participants to the second African peace forum, to be held in Cape Town in April this year. Past President of the ICC EC Andrzej Ludek was invited as one of the forum’s keynote speakers. Intercountry committees were also included in the peace conference programme. PDG Andrzeja Ludka and PDG Piotr Jankowski were its only participants from Poland. The ICC Summit participants, most of whom also attended the peace conference, gathered for an ICC dinner in a charming Turkish restaurant in Istanbul’s old town. More than 90 people attended this social gathering.
